I've seen quite a few graded cards on Ebay recently from SCD (Sports Collectors Digest). Are they reputable? Are they spotting fakes and cut cards? How do they compare to the biggies (grading ability and value of thier graded cards)? Let me know what you guys think. I just jumped into this forum and I could not find this answer by searching the previous posts. Thanks.

Sports Collectors Digest cards are superior to GAI and BGS in terms of quality. They are still inferior to PSA and SGC. Sports Cards Direct is the off shoot of Sports Collectors Digest and they are probably closer to BGS/GAI

Abrams, are you kidding or do you work with them? SCD grades trimmed cards almost exclusively. GAI is FAR superior and as tough as PSA or SGC imho. Look it up.

I agree with Abrams on the original SCD -- they were very good and I never had a problem crossing their cards.

I'm not sure I agree with his opinion on the new SCD. I think I would put them behind GAI, for sure. Unclear where they stand wrt BVG (who I consider 2nd tier).

Davino/FYS -- the 2 versions of SCD are completely different -- red -vs- blue logo on the holder. The red ones are the old ones. There are some very nice cards in the old holders that you can sometimes pick up for a nice price, and IMHO they are squeeky clean.

My opinion was for Sports cards Digest grading not Sports cards direct which is the new SCD. Sports Cards Digest grading was far superior to that of GAI. Sports Cards Direct have proven to be inferior to even GAI.

I personally have no qualms buying SCD (Red: Sport Collectors Digest) holders. I would not buy the new SCD.

I believe that the new SCD (Sports Cards Direct) has gone out of business as of July 2006. Another one bites the dust....
