1965 Topps Tall Cards

Okay, I'm a coin guy and know precious little about cards. I do have, however, a Namath 1965 Topps card, the type that is very tall compared to a traditional card. Are the cards that are this size able to be certified or is certification limited to cards that are the smaller, more familiar size? Thanks.

Thank you for the information. I had realized it was his rookie card. If it were a coin I would grade it something like VF35, which is mid-way through the circulated grades. The front of the card is attached.

It's a dificult issue to find in grade due to the odd size, not lending itself well to standard shoe and sock box storage back in the 60s (the edges not being as well protected as the far more common "standard" size 60s cards). There was however a wax-pack/box/case find on this issue approximately a dozen years ago so the Namath Rookie CAN be found in NM and better grades, although, if not for the find cards, locating the oversized/problematic 65 Football issue would be far more difficult.

Thanks for the extra information, hammer, that's interesting. In a way, it is similar to some bank bags of coins found in bank vaults during the financial collapse of '29-'30. There are some issues of coins that are available in high grade only because these long forgotten bags of coins showed up when the banks closed their doors.
