I'm a former card collector and I am looking to put up some of my cards on Ebay. I was just wondering who is "hot" right now player wise. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks,

I'd say Alfonso Soriano is the hottest now - but modern isn't my forte..

The key cards from that time period would be:
Hockey -- 1979-80 Topps and O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky. Near Mint (graded) you're looking at about $500 and NM/MT would be somewhere in the $1000 range (for the OPC). Legitimate, non-sheetcut Mint copies sell for much, much more (several thousand). There's also a 1980-81 Ray Borque & Mark Messier rookie (moderate sellers unless well-centered), and a 1981-82 Paul Coffey rookie (did not appear in Topps).
Baseball -- 1978 Molitor/Trammell is still pretty active as are well-centered 1979 Ozzie Smiths. The 1978 Brett and Ryan are tough to find in top grade and sell for premiums if they're perfect. Gem Mint 1983 Tony Gwynns are OK too. The 1980 Rickey Henderson rookie card is pretty common in NM/MT or lower grades, but extremely hot if graded Mint or Gem Mint.
