Hi Guys,
I recently bought a whole bunch of 78 Topps Football Wax Packs. I pulled a Dorsett RC, Payton All Star #200, plus some other Star Players....about 20 sweet Mint Star cards total. Who do you guys think I'd have better luck with as far as grading....SGC or GAI ??

Not sure what you mean by better luck? In any case, SGC is the far better choice between GAI and SGC. There simply is no comparison based on accuracy, guarantee, appearance and resale value.

Luck has nothing to do with it. I'll predict that both (either) company will grade your cards, put them in a holder and ship them back to you insured.

If you're looking (asking) which company's holders will display better, it's SGC. If you're asking which is the better resale value, I'd say neither of those two choices in that particular year.

Reason I ask is because I have read on the message boards that some people have crossed cards from GAI to SGC and got Higher Grades. So are you guys saying GAI is the TOUGHER grading company ???

Also BBO...I am a PSA BASHER so I have no choice but GAI or SGC. BVG is a joke. Who's left ??

GAI is definately not any tougher than SGC. I am not saying SGC is any tougher either. I can say that SGC is absolutely more consistent. Every collector with a keen eye can spot cards (bbo can attest) in anyone's holder that may be undergraded and worth a try in a cross over.

In any case, based on your input that it is down to SGC or GAI. I quite honestly feel that SGC is a no brainer choice. This is obviously a biased opinion, but I think a significant majority of the general collecting population, regardless of whose holder they collect, would say make mine SGC over GAI every day of the week.

That's Cool. I appreciate all the info. Because these 78's I recently pulled (ESPECIALLY THE DORSETT RC) are all gorgeous and very well centered. I just want to get the most for the money, and I won't use PSA for this reason.....INCONSISTENT.

I recently won a 50's card on ebay. It was graded GAI 7. The card had a half-inch paper wrinkle from the right border and the top left corner was creased. SGC would have graded this card no higher than a 5. Not a big fan of GAI.

If your main goal is to sell them. Im with BBO. With the 78's its not going to make much difference. Only the PSA Registry Droids are going to have much interest in them. While I agree
that SGC is by far the best Choice. Your not likely going to sell them for much more than if you offered them raw.

Can you give us some scans? I may be interested in some of the nicer centered cards(Commons as well)
