I have started to post images of the only 1963 Fleer Set in the SGC Registry. At this point, I've managed cards 1 through 10 plus the checklist. I will let you know as I get more uploaded.

Ron,

I never looked at this set until I noticed you collecting it. It is pretty
nice set. Why did Fleer go out of business? What did you think
of the Psa 9 cards from 63 that were recently up for auction?
The Johnny Callison looked great. It closed today.

Hi Aconte

In 1963, as I understand it, The Topps company sued Fleer in federal court since Fleer was packaging their cards with cookies. Topps claimed in their lawsuit that they own the exclusive right to package cards with any type of confection. Somehow Topps was victorious and a "cease and desist" order was place upon Fleer. I'm foggy on the rest of the details as to whether or not Fleer chose to just stop altogether without something in the packs or whether the ruling precluded them from doing anything or they just simply ran out of cash??

As for the PSA 9's they looked real nice. I have to say that the 8's I've been buying lately are more like 7's. The PSA standards have started to become soooooooooooooooooo wildly inconsistent that I need a blown-up scan to see what PSA 8 Im buying on any particular day.

Anyways, let me continue getting some more scans up.

All the best

Ron

Haven't seen your set yet - looks awesome. The 63 Fleer set is one I have long considered trying to collect. I am most impressed with your SGC 84 Checklist. That is one hard card to locate. Good luck with your upgrades!

Thanks very much for the kind words. The checklist is indeed very very difficult to find in high grade. Got that one raw as were almost all the cards I had for this set originally. I've now scanned through card 40 for everyone's viewing pleasure. That's enough for this evening but I will finish the job soon enough.

Ron,

I did not like the Psa 8 Callison that closed the other day. Of course though
I was comparing that to the Psa 9 since I really don't have a good
frame of reference. Your set looks really nice. I like the size too.
Sixty-seven card sets are a lot easier to collect. The patience required
to do a 700 card set is something I do not have.

Old, dense-headed hammers are cool. Best nail pounders.

Thanks for the kind remarks. What do you think it should have gotten?? I was slightly dissappointed in the grade. I'd attached a scan of the back for your viewing pleasure but I can't figure out how to get the file small enough.

Just a scanning update. I've now got cards 41 through 60 uploaded should anyone care to take a look.

Ron,

Great set and super images! The 1963 Fleer Sandy Koufax has always been one of my favorite cards from that era!

All

My task is complete. All 67 cards from the 1963 Fleer SGC Set are now scanned. All I need is another brave sould to join me so my set isnt lonely.

I will have plenty of extras available for sale after I am back from vacation so if someone wants a jump start, let me know.

Ron,

Always difficult to say what grade it should have gotten....but I think your checklist compares favorably with this card.

Your card has a bit worse centering R-L, but appears to have sharper corners. The card in the link appears to have a pretty soft lower-right corner.
