Interesting - will be fun to see how the PSA dealers with tons of slabs react. If they are going to a new holder, they should go to a half point system as well. Personally, I have never seen a GAI holder in person, but it has to be an improvement.

The only changes proposed are an "overlapping edge" (like GAI or Beckett) so that cases can not be easily opened or tampered with... (Unlike the SGC holder!)
and
A possible flip on the TOP of the slab so that it can be identified from inside a box, without removal (also Unlike SGC)
but there is NO discussion reported about the use of Any type of Insert (black or otherwise) like SGC or GAI use... so it will likely not resemble their holders at all, but still LOOK just like the existing PSA holders, yet a touch thicker and a lot more secure!

With all due respect Jeff,
I am not aware of large or small scale tampering with a holder other than PSA's.
I recognize that they are the most likely target due to their market position, so it is not a big suprise that they got hit. If they do take steps to make their holder more secure, it is a wise move. I would hope that SGC is looking at ways to do this, as well.
The label on the top was "pioneered" by one of the third/fourth/fifth tier companies that is now gone from the face of the earth. It doesn't do anything for me since my cards mostly sit in boxes and are arranged by year and number. A dealer's perspective is probably different.
If PSA does change their holder it is for a single reason -- improved security...and this is a good thing. And, I agree, that it should look, feel and act like their old holder so as not to generate any market confusion.
Actually, it would probably stimulate a good bit of re-holdering, so there might be other reasons, as well.
Scott
P.S. are you the real BKAH or the imposter?

Jeff,
Everybody has the same idea as to who has the easiest slab to crack: The other guys' slab!
It is matter of public record who's slab at was the center of a massive fraud -- and well leave it that.
I will be interested to see if the new slab devalues the old slab. It's all a theory right now. I think the moment someone says or thinks "my card would look better in the new slab," the old slab and the card within has been devalued. How much? Who knows, but it is now in a * second * best slab. We hear the phrase "Old Label" for SGC, with all its connotations. Soon we will hear the phrase "Old Slab" for PSA.

It doesn't really matter what PSA does, they can't escape who they are and what they have become. I don't think anyone was fooled my Philip Morris changing their name to Altria Corp and PSA changing their holder will have the same effect.
