I love this new idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I collect Cowboys and Braves cards from Topps only and love this idea to showcase my cards!!!!!

I don't have the funds/desire to complete a 600+ card set full of commons that don't interest me and this is great.

I have been a supporter of the "other" company for years, but now they are going back to the membership fees and I have had enough.

I look forward to making friends and contacts here at SGC, and they will be getting my business from now on.

If anyone has SGC graded Topps Cowboys or Braves to get rid of let me know.

Thanks
DaBoys

I just wanted to pass along a few tricks I've stumbled upon while maintaining my "The Way I Collect" set -- both of which have to do with sorting.

1. If you're entering multiple cards from the same year/manufacturer and you enter your card numbers as 1, 2, 3, ... 21, 22, 23, ... 101, 102, 103, ... etc., your cards won't appear in numerical card number sequence. Instead, your cards will appear in the following sequence: 1, 10, 11, 12, 13, ... 100, 101, 102, ..., 2, 20, 21, 22, ... 200, 201, 202, etc.

So, if you entered three cards into your "The Way I Collect" set from the same year/manufacturer that were numbered 3, 21, 101 ... they would appear in the exact opposite sequence when viewed.

To get around this, enter all number with the same number of digits. That is, enter "1" as "001". Enter "11" as "011". Enter "101" as "101".

2. The problem in #1 is compounded when entering cards that cross years and manufacturers because set entries are sorted by card number ONLY. For example, my Nolan Ryan Gem Mints set used to appear in the following sequence:

1. 1992 Classic Best 001
2. 1990 Topps Tiffany 002
3. 1990 Topps Tiffany 003
4. 1984 Topps Tiffany 004
5. 1990 Topps Tiffany 004
6. 1990 Topps Tiffany 005
7. 1985 Topps Tiffany 007
etc.

To get around this problem, I changed the card number field to contain year and manufacturer abbreviations in addition to card number. The card number field can contain up to 10 characters. Therefore, the card number fields of the previously listed cards were defined as follows:

1. 1992 Classic Best 001 -- 1992SC 001
2. 1990 Topps Tiffany 002 -- 1990TT 002
3. 1990 Topps Tiffany 003 -- 1990TT 003
4. 1984 Topps Tiffany 004 -- 1984TT 004
5. 1990 Topps Tiffany 004 -- 1990TT 004
6. 1990 Topps Tiffany 005 -- 1990TT 005
7. 1985 Topps Tiffany 007 -- 1985TT 007
etc.

Now, even thought the contents of the card number fields look strange, at least the cards sort in the correct (... and intended ...) sequence according to year/manufacturer/card number.
