Today represents 36 business days since SGC received my submission on June 30th. Since then I've: - Celebrated the 4th of July. - Sweated through the Seattle Mariners again not making a move at the July 31st trading deadline. - Taken the first two weeks of August off on vacation.
What I haven't seen is a hint that my cards have been graded and on the way back to me. So far I've submitted seven batches of cards to SGC, and this is the second time it's taken an extraordinary time for a batch to return. Am I just lucky, or what? This is sure an interesting interpretation of 20 day turnaround.
I am so discouraged I am putting on hold all my current attempts to build a 1969 Topps baseball set via SGC. I may just dump my current holdings and move on to something that move faster than glacier speed.
Discouraged in Washington State,
Daniel

Dan --
I am very sorry to hear about your situation. Would you share your contacts with SGC so far on this point. SGC can't afford to let loyal supporters twist in the wind...

Daniel,
I want to first apologize for the delay in shipping your cards. I will not make any excuses other than turnaround times vary from month to month based on a number of factors. One factor being a major trade show (The National) when we are out of the office for an entire week. As per your instruction, your latest submission was not to be shipped until after 8/8/03 (which was a Friday). Your cards cleared quality control on 8/14/03 and were shipped on 8/18/03. The cards were shipped Fed Ex Standard Overnight so you should receive them today. There is usually a day or two between quality control until the cards are shipped, based on volume. With that said, it appears that your submission was late by 3 or 4 days. We value you as a customer and we would appreciate the opportunity to continue to earn your business. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this matter further please feel free to call me 800-742-9212.
Regards, Sean Skeffington-SGC

And as Paul Harvey would say, "now for the rest of the story." There's always two sides to every story.

Sorry for not introducing myself. My name John Grillo. I make frequent posts on the PSA boards so my username "grilloj39" may be familiar to you. I collect vintage hockey and roberto clemente and some vintage baseball and football as well...no modern for the most part, unless it's a clemente item. My grading company of choice is GAI...I have nothing but pleasant experiences with SGC but its that I think they are a little too lenient on the centering (similar to PSA). However I must admit, SGC provides good customer service with fair and consistent grading so you know what your're getting.
I retired from the military about 6 months ago and I just got back into card collecting after a 2 year layoff due to being overseas (Saudi Arabia and then Kuwait). I now work at Northwest Vista College and manage a Network Administration Degree Program and teach Solaris and Cisco Academy courses. I am married and have two children. My first son is in the Navy (San Diego) and my second son is starting the 9th grade.
