Here are some recent raw cards I picked up and am considering submitting for grading. I'm really jazzed about the Triandos, since that is a bear to find nice! What do you think? (Be honest.)

1959 Drysdale and Bill White Rookie

1959 Clete Boyer, Bob Buhl and Rodolfo Arias (high number)
Photobucket

1959 tough low pops and high numbers, Triandos still has that natural curl to it.

Most of the cards look pretty clean. I would think you are looking at 84's to 92's overall. I really like the Drysdale card.
I picked one up from goose on CU. Clean card. For me I prefer
good corners over centering but don't want centering to detract
to badly. Pack fresh from any year is my preference.

The only card I noticed quickly that I'd pass on but should grade
is the Miranda. Do all have the print marks to the right along
the edge? Also a couple have the dreaded print circles but that
won't break the grade if all else is good - ie freese + throneberry.

Good luck.

Can anyone tell me how to download pics from my pc? I thought
you could do this but can't figure this out?

I generally use Photobucket (it's free and very simple to use) and upload my pictures there. From there, you'll have your "my album" area where the links to post in threads like this will show you what you need to copy and paste. This way, you'll see the pics from their sight on the posts here. Good luck!

Yes, the Miranda print smudge is fairly common but not on every card of him I've seen. My Mantle has it, too and SGC graded it 84. In another thread I mentioned print imperfections such as this seem to get worse treatment by the graders than I would give it. (With PSA, it would get the dreaded PD qualifier.)

It's a matter of personal preference, of course.

I'm hoping for 86 or better on all these. I believe the Drysdale and Triandos have the best shot at 88, with Buhl and White as the next best hopes. If Freese were better centered, it might be a 96. The corners are unimprovable.

I, too, am more partial to surface gloss and corners than centering. A well centered one is stunning and I don't exactly toss those in the trash.

I feel the same way.

Well, grades popped today, exactly one calendar month from when they were logged in. Twenty-two business days, assuming President's Day was a holiday.

I didn't get at least "86 or better on all" of them. But there were some positives.

Drysdale and Triandos, both went 88, as expected.
Freese and Coates, both are 86, at the top end of my expectations
Buhl, Boyer, Arias and Miranda are 84 and disappointments.
White and Throneberry only made 80, so I must have missed something on those.

Oh well, half were upgrades to my set, with three more possible upgrades. I'll have to compare them side-by-side when they come in. The Throneberry in 80 is probably better than my current 84, so I may be 9 for 10 on upgrades.

Suffice it to say, the Drysdale and Triandos paid for the entire order, including my raw cost (under $50 for the pair).

I'll add scans to the Registry next week.

Nice job. No one can say you don't know your 59's!

Well...or so I thought. I must confess, when looking at raw cards, I tend to be a little biased. I try being an optimistic sort and telling myself, "that'll slide into an 86." I'm really disappointed in 84's, even more than 80's. If it comes back 80, I figured I missed something. If it's an 84, I feel like the grader was just being harsh on me, 'cuz I don't submit unless I think it will go 86 or better.

Edited to say...
That's a whine if I ever read one. I'll snap out of it when my Parsippany box arrives and Triandos and Drysdale jump out it like a Jack-In-The-Box.

Edit Reason: admit to whining
