I love the 1954 Red Heart set, but the 1954 Johnston Cookies is a close second.

Anyone here working on a 50's set? I am not a set builder by any means, but some of these small regional issues may be what I am looking for.

The Red Hearts would be my first choice as well, 1954 Wilson Franks come in second. Of course, you could put together a complete set from nearly any of the 1950s mainstream issues for the same price as the 20 card Wilson set.

I am a big fan of the 53 Glendale Meats.

I love the 1958 Packard-Bell issue, the 1950 Drakes, the earlier Kahn's Wieners, and Partridge Meats.

I guess I just really prefer the black-and white issues.

Al, I just bought a black and white card that I think you will enjoy -- I will post a scan when I receive it.

Neal,

Welcome!

The 50's and 60's are my favorite decades for cards. As far as
regionals the red hearts are my favorite too. I'm not a Wilson
Frank fan. The weiner pack about to hit Feller in the head
scares me! LOL!

My favorite 50's set is the red man tobacco issue. I guess
this is technically not a regional set though.
I just added a way I collect set to include some of my autographed red man cards that
I picked up over the years. I got some on my own, most from
mrredman, a couple from Rgold, and the same from ebay.

I also like the standard topps cards from 1959 - football and
baseball. And recently I find myself really like the 64 Topps
coins and some of the other coin issues.

I love the 54 Red hearts. I recently started a SGC set but only have about 50% graded.

I'll concur with Red Hearts, and then follow those with Wilson's, '58 Bell Brands, '59 Morrell's, '52/'53 Mother's Cookies and '54 Dan Dee's. I don't have any Rodeo's but they seem like a great design as well, too bad the player selection is poor.
If you count RedMan's those would have to be at the top of the list, and Hires and Hires Test in there somewhere as well.
I've got a Johnston cookies run, but for some reason they don't do a lot for me. NY Journal Americans are pretty fugly, Hunters always seem to be found trashed, and Drakes and Stahl Meyers are tough to see at all. Felins are impossible!
Overall a great era for regionals.

My favorite is the '58 Bell Brand Dodgers set. I've only got one (Gilliam SGC 80). Always looking for others.
