Yes, it's OFFICIAL! Red Sox great, Jim Rice and Oakland A's/New York Yankees legend are to be inducted to Cooperstown! It took Rice many years of being overlooked to get in. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the picks and who would you have voted for? What does this year's election say about Mark McGwire -- he received 10 fewer votes this year then last year. And how about Andre Dawson - he received 67% of the vote and falling short by 44 votes from becoming a Hall of Famer. Perhaps, that might mean that all of you Andre Dawson fans will one day see him enter the Hall...........maybe next year!

And one of the hottest players and a collector's favorite throughout the 70's & 80's.

They said Rickey Henderson got in too. I remember his first game. Man could he run. Never did collect alot of rickey. I was a big Eric Davis fan for some reason. He kinda went away after a few years and then Bo Jackson came around. He is probably my all time favorite athlete. Im a big Auburn fan so it kinda fits.......

Yeah...I liked Eric Davis too and thought he was going to be a HOF'er! He got hurt slamming up against a center field wall trying to make a catch and did something to his back. I later heard he got cancer but he beat it. I don't know what happened to him after that! Rice was always a big seller in the early to mid 80's at the shows and especially his RC and 1976 Topps issue. Of course, there was a time when Ricky was on top of the pile and commanded big money for his RC. He was an outstanding player and deserves in and I think his first round induction speaks loudly of the kind of player he really was.

FINALLY!! Thank God! Hopfully I won't have to read any more of those Jim Rice HOer threads.

I'll put my vote for The "Hawk" Andre Dawson. He was not only a great player and a fan favorite, but a real Class Act. Something that is sorely missing with todays modern athelete.

Rice getting voted in on his 15th and final year on the ballot, really goes to show what a sham the Baseball hall is. At the same time when Rice was the most feared hitter in the american league, Dave Parker was the most feared player in the national league. Only difference was, Parker was a five-tool terror who could beat you with his bat or his defense. He had the most feared arm in the game.(ask Rice and Eddie Murray about his arm)

Only 4 pitchers in the history of the game threw more strikeouts then Bert Blyleven. Blyleven had one of the best curveballs ever, and had an outstanding post-season record. Yet still cant get enough votes from the clueless writers. PATHETIC!!
