I was looking through the catalog that i got in the mail today. I never can purchase this high grade material or at least not right now in my career but did you notice the Eddie Plank T206. Thats a beautiful card and I haven't seen it for quite some time. SGC did a great job holdering the 52 Mantle. I can't stop drooling over that card. I guess if i could have one card it would be the Mantle..................what about you guys???

Mine arrived today also. I would take the Leaf Jackie Robinson(SGC 96). It doesn't look like much in the small catalog photo, but online it is awsome. This is the first example of this card that does not look ugly to me.

A do not like the centering of the Mantle. If I am going to spend $20K, I am going to go for a centered version. I will give up corner sharpness for centering.

I talked to Bill the other day about the 1965 baseball complete set (#9 on the Registry across the street). I asked him why the consignor didn't break it. He said that's about the only set in the 60's that makes sense to sell intact. Too many $20 commons in high pop. Plus that particular item has only one HOF in 9 (Mantle, very old flip). That set may go for a real bargain price to someone who wants to get a foothold in 1965.

Do you like that set, bbo? It seems to be a boring set to me. Although there isn't a set that I totally don't like, it just seems a little too plain to me. Especial when you think of its predecessors of the early 60's like 1960, 1961 and 1963. I would include 1962 but that wood grained border always turned me off although there are a lot of great cards in that set. I do like the 1964 set though and some would debate me about this et being boring. I think it has a plain design, but it has great color, nice subset cards and great photography IMHO. After that the 67 was the last great set produced in the 60's although 69 wasn't too bad.

I'll take the 52 mantle. Very nice card. Also the 56 mantle.

That's what makes the world go 'round.

The '65 set is my 1st or 2nd favorite from the 60's, right up there with 1967. Great photography, blue backs, wavy pennants, loaded with rookies (Morgan, Hunter, Carlton, Perez and about 1/2 dozen minor star rookies).

Don't care for 1969 much or 1962 at all. I detest 1960's horizontal, psychedelic look and single year stats on back.
