Just wondering what's so special about the topps tiffany series?? Looking at buying a mattingly rookie topps tiffany psa 9 for 150. Why are they so high priced

You can pull a nice card from a sealed tiffany set. Then send to the real graders SGC for evaluation.

Yep - limited quantities, and glossy!

Back then, there were very few "glossy" cards.

I've seen raw ones go for, lately, about $120-$130, but you never know when the psychotic Yankee fans are gonna end up in a bidding war.

While the Tiffany cards are limited they are very tough to grade high in 10's or 98's. Edges & surface flaws are quite common, so 9's or 96 are pretty good grades.
