I picked up this card earlier this year in a 'red slab.' I'd much rather have it in an SGC slab, but it's a 'big ticket' card and I need to protect my investment.
I'm considering submitting it with the minimum grade box checked, but want to get some opinions first.
You two are probably right. I'd much rather have it in an SGC slab, but with the economy the way it is, and the spectre of unemployment looming over anyone and everyone I guess I'll have to leave it in the 'red slab' to protect my investment just in case I need to move it.
Great card, as far as crossover, you have a PSA 1.5 MK, for the PSA registry that equals a 1 (as you subtract out the MK) so I dont see any way for you to lose by crossing it over even if it gets a 10. I do think it has a strong chance to grade an SGC 20/1.5 in any case.
Does anyone know whether or not they crack the card from the PSA slab before grading it?
That is to say, if I said "minimum grade SGC 20" would it be returned to me if it failed to meet the minimum in the intact PSA slab or would it be returned raw?
The only crossovers I've done have been inconsequential where I did not select a minimum grade.
On a crossover if you put a Min they will not crack out the card only if they think it will cross. That said there is a small chance that they crack it out but then find another defect, that has happened to me once and they called to make things right, in my case they gave me a nice discount on that submission. I was happy with the settlement and how it was handled.
