The photos were taken at the same time, but they're definitely not identical. Just look at the guy in the front row, second from the right. In Earl's photo, the guy's arms are not crossed. It the H&S photo, the guy's arms are crossed. There are other differences too - even in the text.

How can SGC label both of these the same issue when clearly the post cards are not the same?

Based on the subtle differences in the poses of everyone in the two pictures, it sure seems like there are two variations of that postcard - neat discovery!

I would have no idea which variation is rarer (plain Detroit Club lettering vs. Detroit Club lettering with lines).

Like the others have said, the Net54 forum would be a good place to address this topic.

I would also bring it up to Bob Lemke (the editor for the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards) to see if he would be able to add that variation to the next addition of their catalog. I believe that he's a member here (id = aupt).

If you notice the photos are different. Old Carboard has the OPs listed as a legitimate Taylor.

I am a vintage paper dealer. Both cards appear original; the other guy's postcard is a divided back postcard, most common from 1907 and thereafter. Your card is an undivided back postcard, most common between 1898 and 1906, but sometimes used for a few years thereafter until the paper stock with undivided backs was exhausted. The same team is pictured in two different years, and your card appears to be the older of the two cards. I recently sold a Nebraska farm team postcard similar to your own on Ebay. Yes--these cards are graded by at least one other grading service.

I am a postcard dealer. Your card is an undivided back postcard, most common up to 1906 when the divided back postcard (the other person's postcard) became common due to a change in postal regulations. Some companies continued to print cards on undivided back paper stock until they exhausted the old paper supplies. Your card shows the team in a different year than the other card; I think your card is the older of the two postcards. At least one other grading service will grade your postcard. I recently sold an ungraded Nebraska farm team postcard very similar to your postcard. They are great cross-over items for collectors.
