Earl:
My new year Collecting goal is to reach at least 60% graded on my 1958 Topps Set. This is contingent on any deployments that may spring up but with the withdraw in Iraq it is quite possible that we will be home all year!!

I think I'm going to focus this year on getting the 1960-62 Topps Cardinal team sets in at least SGC 84. And I will still pick up other cards here and there for the other years if the price is right I have a good start on those sets. The big guns (Musial and Gibson) are already in hand

My collecting goal will be the same as last year. Collect all autographed 2012 Bowman Royals cards. Far more modern than anyone else but I want them to all grade a 100 or 98.

A little late... but my 2012 vintage collecting goals are to reach 100 different SGC graded cards for my White Sox type set (currently at 84), and 100 different SGC graded front/back combos for my White Sox T206 master set (currently at 85).

Grats KRB, thats a lot of Mantles!
I can understand the whole safe thing, I had to upgrade my safe this year, very happy with my new one thou, holds about 3 times what my old one did. To those members on the border about getting a safe, I highly recommend it.
Here are some pics-
Old one I had for about 2 years, was great till I outgrew it-

New Safe, well worth the inventment imo-

I agree love the safe!! I met my initial goal of 60% on the set. Im at 70% right now and my new goal by the end of this year is to be 99%. Im going to have to save up for the #433 Poncho Herrera Error card as it goes for a few hundred up to a thousand or better. Its in the registry so i think you gotta have it to make it past 99%. Im also going to do my best to upgrade all my cards that are sitting at SGC 40 and below. Did I mention I love this hobby!!!

Wish you had this one then: http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7051&lotNo=80341 Who pays over 15k for that card? Or even 7K at this auction: http://www.goodwinandco.com/LotDetail.aspx?lotid=4986 This one is better, almost 3K, prices are dropping: http://robertedwardauctions.com/auction/2010/698.html This sold back in 2009 for over 1700: http://www.memorylaneinc.com/site/bid/bidplace.asp?itemid=13480&getauctionid=72 I found this one sold on Ebay for 600: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Topps-Panch...d-/190747179667
1958 Topps Pancho Herrera, Missing "a" Error #433 SGC 88 NM/MT 8 - Highest Grade Known! By far, this is the finest of only three graded by SGC. For vintage card enthusiasts the T206 "Magie" misspelling is the king of the printing mishaps. Hobbyists who specialize in the 1950's have the famous Pancho Herrera missing "a" variation from the 1958 Topps baseball edition. This particular card also displays an unworldly fading of the "r" as well. Although the "Magie" error accounts for over a full third of the submitted "portrait" examples, only 3 of the 40 '58 Herrera cards submitted are the missing "a" variation. Adding to its uniqueness and desirability is the fact that this card is of unquestionable quality. This particular beauty has rich and lush coloring, a bright white frame, a perfect layer of gloss and four razor sharp corners. It is a hobby classic and one of the finest examples known to date.
Still i would not buy that card. Sorry no sir No way. Even if i found that in a basement find, I would not known who he was and just put it into my crap pile of cards. Makes me wonder if theres a 10K card in my crap pile?

What makes that card so expensive? There are other printing errors at a fraction of that one. It is not really a true printing error because on most of these cards you can faintly see the "a" that is missing. Whoever started the run up on that card is a genius. I wouldn't give you $50 for that card.(OK I would just to sell it to some sucker.)

My collecting goals are:
1.Pass Stuckmeyer in the registry for 55 Bowman Football
2. Upgrade about 25% of my 52 Topps to SGC 80 or better.
3. Help Blackie in his quest for quality 58 Topps
4. Convince Goldenhawk that he doesn't need his 52 Topps high numbers and he should donate them to the CAMMB Charity.

Thanks Tony!
I almost forgot you were working ont he 55 Bowman Football set. I will move my "sight picture" over the 55 Bowmans and see if I can find any pickups you need for your set. I gotta go check your set to see what your needing.
Yeah the Herrera error card is crazy. I see one raw last year that was not on anybodies radar as being the error on ebay and it went for $125 bucks. The guy (a CU member) then submitted to PSA and got a 5 or 6 out of the deal and make a buttload of money. Sometimes I wonder if that card should be in the registry at all. Its not the Yellow varations but a misprint or weak print of the last "a" in Herreras name. Wonder if we can remove it from the registry.......hmmm??

Thanks on the safe and hey Im in Texas so Justin boots for sure )
I agree that the Herrera error should only be in the master set not the normal one as its a printing error. I would call Earl on it. I also would not pay that kind of money for that card, even in low grade, prefect card if you collect errors thou i'm just not one of them. I could think of a ton of $600+ cards I would much rather have.
I have not really looked at goals for next year but will have lots of them, I have a lot of sets missing 1-5 cards, hope to close out a couple.
