Hello.

I recently picked up this Erving rookie. Looks to be rough cut, some skew (is that the out of square term?) and has a couple of ink marks on back. One at top and one right below (left) the Career Pro Statistics bar at bottom.

Anyone have a ballpark idea what a card like this would grade? Or perhaps there are too many flaws to warrant grading.

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome,

Sorry too hard to really tell in photo and in a screwdown. If you could past a scan we could give you a better idea. Also is the black mark on the back on the card or the holder?

Nice card thou )

Mark is on the card. Also a smaller one at bottom.
This scan is probably a little better...once you get the image up to 100% in PB.

If it is ink, no higher than a 30

Does it matter if the ink is from the production process or after the fact? Not that I really know what exactly it is.

I'm just curious. I've got this one and another, that has a pen mark on back. I've always just assumed those would be grade killers. Luckily, the fronts are decent and they display pretty well.

Yup Ink is a killer but if you dont mind it then you get a nice card at a cheaper price (I have a few like that). The mark does knock out any reason to get it graded other than you want it protected for your own collection, it will not help the resale value.

SMtJoy is absolutely right. The biggest thing about grading it would give the buyer the comfort of knowing it is authenitic etc. I am grading even my midgrade commons but mainly for protection purposes and not the mention the awsome registry SGC has.

Thanks all.

I didn't pay much for the card, so I'll just leave it as is. Perhaps shoot for an autograph on it someday.
