I've recently started to realize that folks on the forum are the only ones who see(or even remotely care) about cards in my collection. My younger brother got me into collecting cards when I was already an adult and it was great to have someone else to share the hobby with. Nowadays, it's just me and you people! The wife will give me a "that's nice dear" response when I get a card and my children are adults now and they don't really have a collecting interest. Don't get me wrong, I am glad we have a place online where we can share scans, information,(drama at times )etc...but I hope I can get to a show somewhere close this year and try to have some non cyber friends to hobby with!!
I started collecting in 1975. I didn't have money but my brothers would send me to buy 20 packs at a time[they were embarrased], so i would get the doubles and some gum for going. That was a long time ago and we went are seperate ways, one brother still collects and has an awesome set, so i'm here with 2 young daughters and a wife who just doesn't understand collecting. I don't have anyone who appreciates the cards like we all do thats why it is great to have these forums to chat ask questions and see some teriffic cards..
My kids seem to have no real interest, although the boy likes the Royals cards.
Seems like the kids don't need cards when they can see any player they want to in action, anytime on the 'net.
