I had read on other boards that SGC was thinking about adding more half grades to their grading scale than they have now (20=1.5, 70=5.5, 86=7.5, 92=8.5).
It looks like they have started implementing the new grades - I just looked at the pop reports today, and I noticed the addition of the 35 grade(2.5).
So, are we to assume that the grades of 45 (3.5), 55 (4.5), and 82 (6.5) will be added too?

I won a 1909 E92 Dockmans Gum card in the Sterling Auction that closed last night. When I went to look up the pop report for that issue, there is a column for the grade "35"...with zero cards graded for that grade.
I also had a BIN yesterday for a 1936 World Wide Gum card, and the "35" shows up in the pop report for that issue too.
I haven't looked at any post-WW2 pop reports yet - I just assumed that they have the 35 grade there too...

Yea this is really irritating..... The exact same thing that PSA did in order to have a huge influx of "regrade" at a nominal charge of course. (The more things cahnge - The more they stay the same)

I think this is correcting a mistake.I think they should have always had these 1/2 grades.

I agree I dont think this is like the PSA money grab where Joe O many times said they would never be half grades. Then they do it and oh yea send in your cards our way and we will charge you for a chance to upgrade, lol.
I just think the SGC scale needed a little tune up and adding the remaining grades would do just that.
I dont think folks with stacks on SGC 30's are going to rush out to resub for a bump any time soon. I have lots at that grade and dont plan to send any in. The few that would get sent in are likely t206 wagner/plank, 52 mantle would be worth it but thats all I see.

I wish that SGC would either quell the rumors about the 1/2 grades or affirm that they r going to do that.I PMed Earl but didnt get a reply.I have the Aaron rookie that i would take off the auction block if i knew the 1/2 grades were coming.

SGC has not implemented new half grades at this time. The grade column in question that appeared on the Population Report was due to a computer glitch. If new grades are to be added in the future, we will make the information available to our customers and on our website at that time.
