Scott and I have both told you it's a reprint, showing you what to look for. I even posted pics of a real one next to your fake one in the other thread. There's nothing else we can do to convince you.

The seller sells reprints. He is fishing. He's fishing for a sucker. He's hoping someone that is uneducated about the card (such as yourself) will purchase it. If the buyer keeps it then he's found his sucker. If the buyer sends it back, he is out nothing and keeps fishing (re-listing) for the next sucker. Eventually he'll find one. In fact, I think he just did. However, if you want to send it in and waste your money, be all means do that. By the time you realize it's a fake, your return period will be expired.

Good luck!

I just went to the seller and cancelled the order. He stated the card was not fake and from a company, and I stated it was probably made to look like it was old whether it was from a company or not. Thanks, all. CJ

Smart move. You saved yourself a lot of trouble. If that's the card you want, you're better off to buy one that's already graded. That way you know what you're getting.

Are you new to the hobby? If so, this board is a great place to learn things and share information. Net 54 is also a good source, but mostly for pre-war cards.

Hi, I was really torn because I new it was a print or it was real. Obviously, 10 bidders thought the same, and wanted a card that the seller might not be too up on, or too lazy to grade, and get a once in a lifetime steal. I could never afford an even poor Babe Ruth card original. I collected when I was a kid, and had my mom throw out all of the '61 season I had collected. Grrr!! But I am sure many have experienced that. I just started back this year. I have some originals from special players, and mostly I get reprints. I have all of Billy Martin's cards, except the 58 Tigers. I met him on the town and spent the whole night with him, and well I watched they Yankees religiously from when we first got a TV and there were no west coast teams yet...:).

Just an update on the Babe Ruth old looking reprint card. The seller listed it, and changed some of the wording on it:

I would pass on that fake. The fake Mantle is made from different cardboard stock and has a slightly different type style on the back...

Real Mantle...

Fake Mantle...

Thanks! I see it is over $11 now. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a real one for $80 or so, though...VG-EX.
