The H&S catalog today came and low and behold they've got an S81 Matty slabbed by SGC for sale!

In 2012 at Baltimore I begged and begged the previous administration to slab one for me, and they assured me there was no way it would fit, and that they couldn't slab them.

When/how did they start slabbing these? I'd appreciate any info you have concerning S81s and SGC.

Here's an image from the H&S catalog.

S81 Silks are some of the most beautiful cards ever made.

They're tough to find (but not Mathewson, because there was a huge find of JUST Matty ... ouch!)

They're striking against the white background.

They were premiums issued by Helmar.

And although they're lumped in with 'silks' like most 'fabric' cards, the material is actually satin.

EDIT: Here are scans of the set: http://www.oldcardboard.com/o/s/s81/s81gal.asp

Nice link. They show 86-110. Was that the complete run?

That was the complete baseball run, but there are other non-sport 'large silks' out there.

As an example, there's a Buffalo Bill Cody on eBay right now.
