Need some help as to how/best way to sell this and what value it might possibly have...Worth consigning? Autographs aren't my thing but I thought this was a neat piece and worth more than I paid for it...Any thoughts? No Clemente or Maz autograph but Pie Traynor plus other Pirates from 1959 and local pols like Mayor David H. Lawrence.

Very nice, Pat. I have no idea as to the value. A lot of the more popular players (Groat, Friend, Face) are still alive, so really the only significant value that I see is in the Traynor (and maybe Big Klu).

If I had to guess a value, I would say in the $400 ballpark.

The only problem with selling a piece like this is most collector's want the assurance of authenticity and to get that you have to shell out some dough to get it done. However, with a piece like this, the Traynor imo is the only noteworthy signature worth authentication. However, Pie is considered a premium and will cost you a fistful of dollars. I think the type of autographed piece you have is an item you can give to most auction houses that can sell it for you and maximize retail. It's definitely not an ordinary piece and something you would find at an auction house. Just my opinion.

Nice item, sorry no idea on value but if I was selling something like this I would also go with an AH that sells lots of autos, like hunts, clean sweeps, huggins, etc. Good luck Pat.

Thanks guys, I would love to hand this off to someone who can facilitate/sell it for me so plz pm me if you can help, happy to pay consignment %. The thing is is that if it is only a $100-200 piece does an AH really want to deal with it? I don't feel like sending it in for authentication myself and don't want to deal with eBay since it is not authenticated. So bottom line if someone here could facilitate selling this for me plz pm me.

I know the auctions listed all have items starting much lower and I have purchased a number of items in each in the $100-200 range. Im pretty sure those houses also have experts who work for/with them to verify the autos over and that's one of the advantages to consigning with them. I have purchased a lot from Clean Sweeps and most of their auction lots start at $10-$50.

I would contact all three (short email with scans) and see what they say and pick who you like best.

Pat,

I've seen certified Traynor autographed cuts sell in the $250 range. That's only why I guessed $400 on the entire program. Again, I could be way off either direction. Why not consign it yourself in the next B & L auction?

If you do want it PSA/DNA certified, let me know. A buddy who owns a shop here in Houston has PSA/DNA come to his home and shop twice a year to do certifications. They're coming again next month I belive and he usually offers a discount on antyhing his customers want certified.
