Not sure about that but I do know he had ONE fumble in thirteen seasons! Thats one of those statistics you hear and just shake your head at, Kind of like Joe Dimaggio hitting 361 home runs and striking out 369 times! The hell with 56 games thats just insane!

I went to small show today on the north side of Houston and picked up some sweet '56 football. I don't even collect football, but I couldn't pass these up. They're all in the NM/MT to MINT range. I'll probably grade them on this month's special as I bought them to flip.
I also bought some decent '59s. Anybody here collect '59s?
Anyway, scans coming tomorrow. Too tired tonight.

Mike, I don't think they're anything you would be interested in. Mostly Ex/Mt+ to NM. But wait until you see those '56 football. They're really nice.

Not intending to steal VTG's thunder, but to answer 33rd's statement, here's mine, scan taken with a very old scanner. The first time I submitted it (years ago), it came back 84. I knew better way back then and got what it deserved the second trip.

Yeah bbo just tease me with that. Awesome ford. That's a nice centered card. Kind of like the 56 ford it took me forever to get a centered 56. Still searching for the 59.

I think with three bent corners, VG/EX is correct. Plus it has some yellow discoloration dots in the white borders. I doubt you will have it graded, but it would fit with my 1952 set in that grade, and be a slight upgrade from my raw VG card, so I would sub it if I owned it.
Sometimes I wonder about sellers who sell both graded and raw and why they don't grade one such as this. Maybe they did and it came back worse than they expected. So they crack it out and sell it raw for the grade they think it is.

I think it would rate a half grade for the over all look of the card of course its a scan but if not a five it should pull a half grade in my opinion.

That's what I was thinking too. If graded, it would probably be a 4.5, but I think it would have a shot at a 5. Either way, it's staying raw.
I'd had my eye on the one below for a couple of months and even made the seller what I thought was a very fair offer, but he declined.
Now, I'm glad I waited. And it only cost me about half the listed price because I used my quarterly eBay Bucks.

Good thing you waited, Dave. Thats not a 5. Typical PSA overgrading. 2 bent corners and left side nick. Like yours better even with the corners. Centering makes up for that. Good job.

I think the surface scuffing and wear disqualify that PSA card from a 5. SGC might give it 50 (4) or 55 (4.5) on a good day. I still say VTG's raw card is a SGC 50 (4). It does present well and will look great in 8-pocket pages or a CS-1. For $70 instead of $99, he did pretty well.

Thanks, guys! Actually he had the PSA 5 with a BIN of $126 OBO. I offered him $105 which was way more than VCP ($81.28) and he countered at $114 I believe. I passed and I'm glad I did. I got it for way less and like I said, my eBay bucks covered about half the purchase price.

Yeah, if that was Joesvintage, I've had similar exchanges with him. I offer above VCP and he counters way above, basically 10% off his original asking price. Then I hear my dog say, "Leave it!" so I walk away. Which is shame because I've done some business with him over the years. Nothing lately.

Focus, color, gloss, overall picture quality. AKA eye appeal. That's a baseball card. It's helps that it's my childhood baseball idol, the Say Hey kid. Takes me back nearly 50 years.

Maybe for a bazillion dollars he will sell it. TC, that Ashburn is a blazing screaming maniac. The register/focus is darn near perfect. You need to keep that in the family for years way past your demise.

Too bad about the scuffing on Johnson, Lee May, Bill Hands/Randy Hundley, Gagliano and Roof. I don't think the centering is that bad on Pascual and Peterson. Could have bought more just like 'em if you still had that $120.

Not scuffing. It's very light snow. Still doesn't take away from the overall eye appeal. Trust me, they're better than any of the overpriced garbage listed here...
http://www.sgccard.com/boards/ubbthreads...rue#Post2009086
And far as buying more, there weren't any more to be had in that condition. He had some that were Ex/Mt+ and I may go back for them later, but I'm not sure.
Edited to add: I know it goes against your D!CK HEAD nature, but if you won't say anything sarcastic to me, I won't say anything sarcastic to you. After all, I don't make fun of your crappy '59 Topps - the worst card design of the '50s. Yes, Mike you are number one on the '59 Topps set registry. Wanna know why you're number one, Einstein? Because nobody else collects them. Newsflash: Stuckemeyer is dead. His set is going nowhere - other than to be dismantled. It's easy to be number one at anything when there is no competition. Duh!

Didn't see any for sale on your link. Guess those are long gone. Heard a rumor they sold at the National.

Duh!
Isn't envy one of the seven deadly sins?
Why so much hatred, so much anger? If I'm Einstein, you must be Galileo, gazing at the stars. I'm not the one who posted about FREE MONEY! and bragged about laying $200 on a "sure thing" +23 Mississippi State, then having the Galileo-complex to show my ignorance that MSU would beat Alabama outright.
What takes the cake and shows who the real D!CK HEAD is, is you misquoting & rewriting my posts when everyone here can read.
Finally, you have to be the most insecure, thin-skinned head case ever to grace a message board. You really do rival some of the CU-fools that live to get into cat-fighting pizzing contests in an effort to recover lost manhood, when all you do is castrate yourself over and over and over again.
It's pretty entertaining, really. I hope you keep it up. It's quite a memorable distraction, believe me.

Picked up a few really sharp '66s today. All are NM+ and better with the exception of McCarver which is Ex/Mt+
Great thing about raw cards: Everyone gets to proclaim with metaphysical certitude what the grade is, no matter what the condition or characteristics of the card are. Dealers at shows used to do that prior to about 1999 or so. Those same dealers HATED and DESPISED the grading companies. Where are they now? Either OOB or TPG-certified dealers. lol

Oh, no. The '51 Topps Red/Blue backs are much worse.

But I don't collect 1951 Topps, so how bad can that set really be? If I collected it, wouldn't the values be reflected in the price guides with down arrows? Help me understand the logic.

Spahn stuff is undervalued in my opinion. The Greg Maddox if that era, just won and won an won.

Thanks for the compliment on the card and I agree that his stuff is undervalued. I met him at a show here in Houston in the mid '80s. He was one of the first autographs I ever got (may have even been the first).
