Maybe SGC can offer a service to register your ungraded cards (with a sticker and A on the card saver) that you choose to NOT grade, but add to the registry.

Hers's the big problem I think SGC faces when it comes to distinguising themselves as a TPG. PSA is so entrenched as the leading TPG service that if they dont offer the service any other company that comes up with it (such as described above) is considered second rate for trying it. Which I find funny since PSA latched on to the half point system once other grading companies just didnt fade away with it. Now the half point's are given more credabilty simply because PSA has them on there flips to.

PSA has no cred on half grades. By their own admission only 20% of 8's are bumped up to 8.5. For most of us, the experience is closer to 10%. If the entire population of card condition is plotted on a continuum, just the sheer averages would put 50% of 8's between 8.5 and 8.99, hence worthy of an upgrade. Realistically, most submitters won't even turn in a low end 8, but only high end 8's; therefore, the actual bump ups should be OVER 50%. PSA has no cred and the results prove it was nothing more than a money grab.

Bbo,

I agree that PSA only did that as a money scheme but I am personally glad they did. The masses tend to be blind and the fact that they didn't have half grades for so long kinda caused it to be scoffed at. They picked it up and BOOM all the sudden the hobby excepts it. Just felt that way to me

I agree that PSA needed the half grades but it was how they went about it that was the problem, after years of Joe swearing they will never do it. It was a money grab, send your cards in and we will bump about 10% and you will have no risk of a downgrade, just send us your cash errrr I mean reviews, bleh. As bbo said I have had 30-40 card subs that have not had a single half grade, I find that mind boggling or more like chasing fools gold. Because of that are they true half grades, nope.

Funny thing I just got my big sub back of 171 cards graded I had 41 yes 41 (25, 35, 45, 55 and 82's) thats 24%, I could not be happier and think they are using half grades the way they should be, when a card is a tweener.
