List of things SGC could do in becoming the BEST GC!

This is an old subject on what SGC can do to in becoming the best Grading Company, but I wanted to get a list going on one thread of how we the collectors could enlighten SGC with "CONSTRUCTIVE" feedback.

Let me start with a few ideas:

1) More monthly specials for all sports
2) Free grading vouchers for the ideas they use from this list.
3) More frequent communication here on the boards of what's going on within SGC
4) Collecting tips
5) A thread regarding "Ask the grader" (questions)

Remember, this is your voice to SGC... One rule, if you reply, please contribute openingly by adding one suggestion to the list and please don't derail this thread.

Although it was a founding process. I'd like to see the 1-100 pt scale go away.

New smaller holders.

Perhaps a premium flip/service that includes subgrades.

Deep discounted same set submissions to build up set registry. Limited to cards valued under $50.

It's been talked about on numerous occasions here but if they improve the registry they improve the SGC brand. The holders are top notch, the service is better than any other TPG IMO but the registry is all that keeps PSA far ahead. I think SGC has pretty much been accepted by the hobby by now, even across the street they seem to admit that SGC as far as grading goes stands toe to toe with PSA. The fact remains that putting a registry set together is just easier with PSA graded cards so.....

improve the registry

- go back to rewarding the best registry sets
- tailor some specials to benifit set builders
- maybe free grades for the best registry sets each year.

I do feel the format is great, the abilty to scan, show and allow other collectors to enjoy your cards is perfect. I've never met a collector that didnt enjoy showing his collection off.

brent,

love the last idea. I have two sets that are graded out for the stars but just have nice commons in card savers. might be tempted to grade themn if given a break on a 300 plus card sub. Thus adding a couple sets to the registry.

Put graded card in graded bag sleeves after grading to prevent scratches. A tear away plastic cover on the front of the holder would do the trick like NASCAR wind shields...

Agree that improving the registry should be there main focus. If they do that, everything else would fall in place. Let me add one other point. I would add give volume (significant) discounts for crossovers. Right now, there are no incentives to cross over for someone setting on a large sum of PSA slabs.

Wow loving this topic guys and I agree with all of it except changing the Holders. To be honest I love the Holders the way they are and wouldn't change a thing.

Anyway I like the idea of more specials and those taylored to the specific collectors goals. For instance what about the player collectors.......say one month have a Player Collector special.....attactive? no? Also what about a set registry special........same year at a low price. This could attract more folks to the registry and also help "pull along" those guys whom started a set but have backed out due to costs etc...especially with common player cards of a set 1pt or less.

Im trying to type this up while on lunch break so i hope what im saying makes sense.

Think thinner holders where brought up, I think most everyone agrees the holders and the black inserts make the cards POP! The only downfall with them is the thickness and storage. I am by no means a dealer but if I had all off my stuff in SGC holders the storage space would probably be double if they where in PSA holders. This may turn some of the major dealers off.

Here's an idea as it may appeal to some of the members here. What about a RAW SET review. Send the set to SGC they review the set, give it an over all grade without encapsulating the cards, give the set a name and place on the registry.

Kinda outta left field with that idea but there are plenty of die hard non graders in the hobby.
