I know all of us have favorite cards that have there own little meaning to them besides the dollar amount next to there name (or not) in Beckett or VCP/SMR. For me its a 1956 Jungle Jim Rivera. I have no scanner so I cant post an image of this card but it was the first vintage card I ever bought at my local hobby shop (where I worked part time) in 1985. I was thirteen and up to that point I only really bought packs and opened them trying to complete the new topps set each year. It was horizontal, old, and had a painted picture of him making a leaping catch robbing a home run. I bought it because I thought it was differnt and in my young undeveloped brain I figured I could somehow collect these old cool cards and get a whole set one day. I went home and showed the card to my father and that card sparked a long long explanation of who Jungle Jim was, how the GO GO White Sox were the team that was suppose to beat the damn Yankees every year in the fifties and how he remembered buying those cards as a kid. Needless to say I went back to that shop, bought more old cards, brought them home and got more leasons.
1956 Jim Rivera will always be my favorite even though hes a common and I can obtain hundreds of them now. Plus its just an awesome card! Whats your's!

The centering is dead on! Love that card! My second favorite set. Can't get enough of your 59 set.

Not sure if it is my fav, but this is the first pre-war card I ever bought...I believe it is partly responsible for my love of pre-war cards!

Without that guy Mickey Mantle might have been named Bob or Frank. Great card!

I've got two:

As a kid I was a left-handed pitcher in Little League through high school, American Legion and into college. I always tried to imitate Sandy, my high school coach nicknamed me "Sandy," my freshman year and it stuck all through high school. The card is not that great, but I've had it a long, long time, it's seen some miles. It's special too in that it was the Dodgers last year in Brooklyn.
And:

I just picked this card up a month or so ago, but it has become probably my second favorite. I can remember watching Roger in the Cotton Bowl in 1963 against Texas for the national championship. Navy lost, kinda ironic, they lost two games that year, to SMU in Dallas and to Texas in Dallas. Then he went on to the pro football HOF playing for a team in...Dallas.
After his college career, he fulfilled his military obligation, even though he could have gotten out of it, other reasons aside, he's color blind. His military career included a year in Vietnam. The rest is history as we all know of his HOF pro career.
The sort of individual everyone could look up to and admire. Kinda unusual in this day and time.

This was one of the first vintage cards I owned given to me by my dad during X-mas season late 80s/early 90s when I was into cards of that era as a boy. (Since upgraded).
