I currently have 3 BVG cards I'd like to cross. 62 Mantle BVG 7, 57 Topps Aaron BVG 8 and a 61 B Robinson BVG 8.5. Going to get me a scanner this evening then maybe I can get some opinions on them from everyone here. Has anyone had any issues crossing BVG cards. I have only ever crossed PSA to SGC dont usually grab BVG stuff but these looked good? Opinions? Comments good or bad are appreciated. Thanks all

Other people like BVG and have a lot of good things to say.

Personally I've only tried to cross 2 cards. One didn't meet minimum grade and the other was said to be trimmed. Not a big sample size but that's all I have.
Love to see your cards, especially the Aaron when you get your scanner set up

I have went the other way on a few cards. 3 out of 5 got grade bumps (2 half and 1 full). I suspect at least one of your card will get a downgrade. Beckett typically grades softer in the BVG world than their modern counterparts.

I have crossed a few and I think they maybe grade a little soft but it really gets down to the card and making sure they didnt miss anything. Posting scans would help a lot because if we can see an issue in a scan then you can bet they will in a sub.

I also believe on expensive cards the odds are someone might have already tried and failed, just something to keep in mind.

Unless the card is worth more graded I generally submit to a crossover with the minimum grade. Otherwise, everything is cracked out and resubmitted.

I've never crossed a Beckett card to SGC. But I have crossed Beckett graded 1952 cards to PSA.

Two dropped by a half grade.
One went up by a half grade.
One went up by a full grade.
One went up by one and one-half grades.
One stayed the same.

That tells me either Beckett or PSA (or both) have no freaking clue what they are doing.

If it were me, I judge each card on its own, but lean toward cracking and subbing to raw to SGC, if the card warranted it.

I think it is continuing proof that how subjective grading really is. Particularly, when you are talking about made up grade levels. I am willing to bet that all the graders would agree that a card is nr-mt. Things get goofy when you start talking ex/nm+,nm+,nm/mt,nm/mt+, etc. How accurate can you be with all that and looking at the card for what 30 seconds?
