I consigned my SGC 80 Namath to Memory Lane Auction this past August.

Memory Lane Namath

It looks like it is in an SGC 84 Holder now - maybe someone can convince me that it's not the same card so I can feel a little better.

To my untrained eye it appears to be the same card. I would imagine there are folks highly skilled at finding undergraded cards and getting them in the proper holder. It only increased slightly in grade although that increase translates into a pretty good economic gain. I wonder if they tried to crossover to PSA for a greater gain and were rejected due to centering and then sent it back to SGC.

Nice card and I would agree with Bricks thinking, that card was worth resubmitting. I know it sucks as its happened to me but I have also been on the other side of that fence too.

Same card. No doubt. It's threads like this that reinforces my decision to go raw was the right choice. I don't have to play the grading game - and it is a game when a one grade bump and the decsion of an individual (who couldn't really give a crap about your card to begin with) increases the value significantly.

The shock for me to see it an 84 holder is the fact that the color is so off. The yellow is very light compared to what the background color is supposed to be and the left border is a major rough cut.

I think that's an 84 all day long and well into the night. Sometimes it takes SGC a while to get it right, but this time they did. Sorry that it's gonna "cost" the OP a few Franklins but like SMJ said, it's happened to all of us, both coming and going. I'm happy for Broadway Joe, though.

In the ML auction, I see a white print circle above the E in JOE at the bottom that I do not
see in the probstein card so I was wondering if it
could be a different card.

I actually think it is not a great looking Sgc 84
since the yellow background is a washed out looking
yellow.

The little fish eye's on the back seem to be in the same place. Looks like the same card.. I don't think Probstein submits so it probably was done by the memorylane winner?

I agree with mid. The colors are so faded and washed out from having sat in the bright sun in a salesman's case with a $2,000 price tag on it for so long that it is off-putting. NO WAY should that card be a '7', and quite honestly, the '6' grade was now too high seeing as how the colors got faded.
