Who was the artist whom painted the 53 topps. I know those pics arent photos per say are they? Great artwork sets those cards way up high in my book making it one of the most beautiful Topps issues.

Oh I see. Daryl i can't ever get over how great it is to really look at those cards. Ive stewed over the thought of putting a raw low grade and i mean low grade set together someday in a nice binder. The big names in that set cost a pretty penny.

Yeah I've thought about the 53's before to man, I have a nice Mantle in a five but that wasn't cheap lol! High grade low grade whatever it's topps coolest set IMO not my fav probably cause I can't afford it but it just screams old baseball. There's a Satchal Paige card and a Bobo Newsome!!! No BoBo's or Satchals running around today
Believe me, I understand. This is the most money I will ever be able to spend on a set. i had some special circumstances that made this possible. And even then, I am looking at a mid-grade set. I love it for all the reasons you guys have named. They have always looked like what I imagine a vintage ball card is supposed to look like. They really capture the imagination.
Here are some of the raw 53s I will get graded eventually. Some of these are better than others. They are all clean...no creases, wrinkles, etc. Mainly surface/edge/corner wear... I will put up some others in a few days. Pretty decent cards....
