Just to caveat this list I have many raw cards that I have not submitted. Though some of these cards present very well I don't think they will pull higher than an SGC 50 or SGC 60 at best. With that being said I just can't see paying the grading fees knowing that i will begin upgrading as possible. Many of these cards on the list are on ebay. Like i noted in the first post, I attempt several times a day to scout out new cards that may have popped up on ebay. With the help of VCP I am seeing that i typically have overpaid (sometimes 3x VCP) on certain cards. I am not real sore about it though as I don't care what the set is worth monetarily (my grandkids may though...LOL) but just love this set and want a completed master set in SGC grade. I want to personally thank Jim (TREX) who has led me in the right direction in getting the equipment necessary to pre-grade my cards the right way. I can see that i have missed alot of flaws on cards by not using the proper light and magnifying instrument to check corners etc. I am beginning to get some of that equipment now as budget will allow.

Anyway not to ramble but I feel so blessed to be able to share this set and my building experience with everyone on the boards. This 1958 Topps set has been a monster so to speak but the most fun ive ever had while enjoying this hobby. Several cards in my set are way below my "sight pitcure" of where i want the end-state of the set to be. For instance I have several common players that are SGC 40 in grade and you can see how i have progressed in what i send in to grade. Im constantly learning and that is what makes it fun.

Good to hear Rob, even better to hear you are researching VCP, it can save you a ton of money.

Also dont be afraid to sell off your lower graded/raw, even if you take a loss if you offset it with getting cards that you will not have a need to upgrade for less based on vcp you still come out ahead.

The other thing is on a set like 1958 just be PATIENCE and the cards you want will show up at your price over time.

I have pretty much given up on buying the "high end" cards that are not already graded as I have been burned more than once when I then send in for slabbing. There's usually a reason why a card that is dying to be slabbed - is not already. The most common thing I find is the dreaded "hairline" crease which can only be found under magnification. So if I cant hold the card and it is an obvious candidate for grading that is not already slabbed - I'm gonna pass.
