Is it just me or does this look like one of the weakest PSA 8's youve seen?
Was looking around for possible cross overs and this card is one i need but not sure if this could even get an SGC 84

Look at the corners......and the bottom of the card is horrible. I don't have the eye like many but mercy this is not good at all...

i posted this on the CU boards too........already have defenders saying its a 7.5 easily. You gotta be kidding me guys. I looked at a few of my SGC 80's I just got back and they are stonger, better looking cards. So why pay premium for a horribly mis graded PSA holder? Just can't quite understand it. I typicaly just let this go but had to share this one.

Here are the 10 cards in consecutive order around the Susce card. Pretty consistent grades. (These are the only cards from those four years in sequence.)
20250784 1957 TOPPS WALLY MOON MINT 9 20250785 1957 TOPPS BOB LEMON NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250786 1957 TOPPS WARREN HACKER NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250787 1958 TOPPS VERNON LAW NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250788 1958 TOPPS GEORGE SUSCE NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250789 1958 TOPPS WALT DROPO NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250790 1958 TOPPS DON FERRARESE NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250791 1959 TOPPS ED BAILEY NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250792 1959 TOPPS BOB SKINNER NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250793 1959 TOPPS ROY CAMPANELLA SYMBOL OF COURAGE NEAR MINT-MINT 8 20250794 1960 TOPPS COOKIE LAVAGETTO NEAR MINT-MINT 8
As for the Susce, the centering is pretty good, 55/45 or better. The coloring and focus is outstanding, except maybe for the top of the name plate (yellow) at the bottom. There are no fish-eyes. It appears to have nice gloss. None of the corners appear bent or even dinged. Rounding is a word of degrees. The larger the scan, the more "rounding" becomes evident. With that large of a scan, it clearly is not a 9 or 8.5. Most amateur graders only look at centering and corners. There are a number of other qualities a TPG looks at that can't be ascertained in a two-dimensional scan. That was my point in posting the 1959 Drysdale-SGC 88. If the scan doesn't measure up to your standards and you can't examine it raw, then pass. If you buy it anyway, you'll just be wasting your money and be disappointed. You'll end up upgrading again someday.
As far as what it might cross to, I can't begin to guess. My last sub was graded in May.

Whaddya expect? That's like a Brooklyn Dodger fan going into the Bronx and proclaiming Babe Ruth to be a fat slob.
May not be the best 8 I've ever seen, but I can see it....once upon a time, in a land far, far away.

Dude, for the most part, the most knowledgeable and objective posters on that board are long gone or post very infrequently. Otherwise, you have kool-aid guzzlers. Meaning, you are going to get pounced on as a biased idiot/jerk/trouble maker with every reason under the sun as to why you are wrong and/or it is, in general, acceptable.

I agree no reason to post over there about overgraded cards, too many kool-aid drinkers.
I think the card is only a bit overgraded, looks closer to a 84/7 to me with the corner wear but an 86/7.5 on a good day.
Now the Art Shell from a few months ago that bumped from an 8 to a 10.........

Card is an 84 at best and thats on a good day.
82 EXMT+ would be more accurate.
couldn't agree more.
