Ran across this on another message board. And was wondering if you guys place that offer? on the 58's LOL
Been offered a price on my 1958 Topps set and need opinions
As you know I am 8 cards away from completing my 1958 Topps set. About 90% of the commons and semistars and about 50% of the stars would probably grade NM or better. But my set is incomplete as, like I said, I lack 8 cards, many of which are big names (Mantle, Banks, Boyer just to name a few).
I have come across a buyer that has offered me $800 for the set as is. I am not sure what to do with it. Should I sell it? Should I keep it? I kind of want to finish it. But right now, I have stalled out on finding the necessary cards in the shape I am looking for. Like I said, I only lack 8. So I have 486 of the 494 card set.
I am just not sure what to do at this point. Is the $800 a good price, considering it doesn't include the Mantle? Is the guy trying to pull a fast one on me?
I could take the money and buy more cards. I am taking my wife to Disney World later this spring (it will be the first trip for both of us) and the money could go toward that if need be.
I just don't know what to do.
