Those are worthy of being graded. Should easily earn back your grading fee. Eddie Robinson looks like an 88. Sawatski, Glynn & Ditmar 88 or 86. Hoffman and others 84 or so. I don't see anything worse than a 60/70 assuming you're right about no creases or other major flaws. If it were me, I'd grade 'em.

I just sent my 2nd ever SUBMISSION in this morning. I had some questions concerning the paperwork tho, but went ahead to get them out. 12- 1953 topps card 1- 1958 topps card 1- 1966 Dexter press (oversize) 1- 1909/11 T206 (re-review free)
I used the post 1948/ $7 rate (10 min) but i also had that Dexter Press 66 card, which is oversized...so i made that a $20 card. But it says to choose 1...I didnt know what to do here?? Plus was that T206 that is to be re-reviewed FREE
Would i had to do 2 invoices submissions? and pay for shipping/handling 2 times? Couldn;t they ship them together?
Anyways i sent Bill a email concerning this, and hope if anything comes up, i pay to correct it.

They will fix it when it arrives. You should be OK. PSA would require you to have 4 invoices for that group: (1) pre-1956, (2) post-1955, (3) oversized and (4) review. Plus you would have to join their CC for $99 or $199 and that would get you a free SMR every month. "Never get cheated."

I think you're going to be surprised with your '53s (and not in a good way). My guess is that most will grade SGC 30-70 range, with maybe a 6 or 6.5 in there. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm just basing my opinion on what I see (and mostly what I don't). Good luck and let us know how they come out.

Grats and you should be fine, they will get it straightened out. As bbo said if that was an order to PSA it would have required 4 invoices and separate shipping for each, rip off.
I also think your grades will be in the mid range, not sure why thats a bummer but even if most are in the lower range you will learn how they grade and what to look for on your next sub better. Its always a learning experience your first couple subs.
Cant wait for them to get back!

Thanks for the info guys. I'm still a newbie to this whole grading thing. Thats why i prefer buying cards already done. I know i can cut cost by buying raw, its just what to look for and any fakes on the market. I dont have that light loop thingy you refer to or a black light room. I may not have 10,000 cards, but i do have bought some nice cards and hopefully hand them down to my nephew one day.
Ps. Vtoppsguy- when they come back, I'll post the results and then see what happens. I have more hopes on that 58 Mantle coming back better than predicted.

As Scott said, it's a learning experience. It will teach you what to look for. Any of us that submit cards went through the same learning process. If you don't already have one, you should consider purchasing a lighted loupe and a black light. Both can be found pretty easily and are fairly inexpensive.

I agree a loupe is a must they are less than 10 bucks on ebay.
Here is one I have, I also have a mag glass thats x 5 but much larger.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnifier-10x-21...=item35bf5be38d
When you look at a card thru one you will get a better understanding of what the graders are seeing.

Cant beat that price 2.28 If i was into buying raw, thats a must, a easy decision to buy it. What does a black light do, I may ask??

Hello all! I'm new to the SGC world and just purchased a 1961 Musial Topps graded 80 EXMT. I purchased this from my phone so the scans were small and I couldn't really study it. Can anyone tell me if this is an old SGC label? I asked the seller about the right edge of the holder and he said it is light frosting which is common, even freshly graded cards. Bottom line, can anyone tell if this is legit from my scans? Thanks!

Cool, I was worried cause the SGC label looks different. It's missing the website address and the single digit grade, plus the back of the label looks green & gold. May be the pic, I haven't received it.
On a side note, what's the lowest grade you would purchase for a vintage card? I'm building my collection to pass on to my son someday (he's only 8 mo. now).

I had asked the flip question before and with the help of several of these guys - have come up with a timeline on the SGC flips.
(1) SG on the front Pre 1999 (2) SGC on the front minus 1-10 grade 1999 thru 2004 (3) SGC on the front plus 1-10 grade plus gold label on the back 2005 thru 2008 (4) SGC on the front plus 1-10 grade plus SGC pressed into the back 2009 thru Current
So it looks like the card in question is a PRE 99 SGC Slab

There is even another variant. The pressed on SGC (the latest slab) had a short period were the press was on the inside of the slab instead of the outside where it is now.

At least there were none in the 30-50 range. If 55 is your worst grade, you did OK, but if you're like most of us, probably at least a little disappointed. But an 80 grade on a 60-year old card is pretty good. It's tough for us to grade with just scans.
If you did not specify to slab if authentic, then that card will come back to you in the CSA holder.
