Yes, VERY good read.


On your 1970 Football, I just bought a lot of 377, 1970 football, w/177 different. If there is a #147 in mint, I will let you know. SUPPOSEDLY, their are multiple cards that the seller states should be sent for grading.

BTW, If you have a bunch of 70's for sale, I will be interested in them late next week after I see what ones I need to complete.

I just could never see collecting anything but a complete set. I have this crazy OCD desire as a completist, but the really weird thing is that no matter how many times I have all 528 cards, their still never complete! LOL. While the cycle of upgrading is getting more and more difficult it never seems to end.

Nice to see another Football collector. Im to the point where Im on a card by card basis. While there are special exceptions, Most all larger card lots on ebay are overstated. While a few decent cards may be had its really just a way to move lesser grade cards that otherwise could not grade or sell on their individual merit. "power in numbers"

In recent years I have had to resort to breaking cards from slabs. These were the latest ones.




The John Brodie was a throw in card that i thought looked under graded. While a solid NM card it still did not make it into my set.

The Chuck Howley had been on my wantlist for many years and I may have made a hasty decession on the PSA 8. Deep in my heart I knew it was not going to be an acceptable card for me, but I broke it out anyway. While I put it in my set the card registry is just not sharp enough. I may put my original card back in the set.


Here are a few nice extras I have as well as some of the insert posters:





AS to how I store my sets: To me every set has what I call "A flow" and that flow can only be seen using the 9-pocket pages. While the concern with binders is that the pages can sag, I have remedied that problem by using "spacer boards" placed through out the set in the binder as well as making my own custom fitted slip covers.





No they may not be that pretty but they are very effective. I see them as hisorical volumes. When I pull out a volume to view, Thats when you can see how the set flows from page to page. It also gives you a better feel for the centering throughout the set as well. To me there is no other way to view a set.

Thats one of the BIG draw backs to these graded cards. It is just not possible to see that "Flow" and is just so difficult to view and enjoy yours sets.

I can pull out a volume and lay it on my lap and casually and easily enjoy flip through that volume.

Just trying to lift 300-400 plastic slabs is a back breaking experience. Let alone trying to look through them a handful at a time.

VERY VERY NICE BRODIE!!!

I am a Die Hard Niners fan and as a kid, that Brodie was my pride n joy. So, as you can guess, it got pretty beat up. BUT I STILL TREASURE IT :-)

I am expecting my shipment of 1970 in today or tomorrow.
are you selling some (non graded) of your dups?

Got my shipment today of the 1970 football.

WOW, my gosh!!! The guy said of the 377 cards, 30 were "gradeable". HE WASNT BLOWING SMOKE!!!

THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL NM!!! But I am too cheap to pay to have them graded:-(

But, I did score 177 new cards towards the set. And then another 150+ towards my "normal" collection.

Please post Scans! I love seeing the cards.

I wouldn't be to hard on yourself as being to cheap to pay for grading. RAW is the way they were meant to be.

No MINT 9 dave Osborn? LOL

the dups I have are up for grabs if you might be interested in any. While I have some EX-EXMT cards, I only scan the NM or better cards.

The "extras" I posted above are for sale. I will post you some better scans of 1970 Topps cards I have to sell.

Red, after looking at what I need and then comparing it to Sportlots & Ebay, I will DEFINITELY need to get with you on some.

As of right now, but this might change, I will need...

#9 UNMARKED, #147 (I know, I know), #182, #229, #237, #249, #251, #260, #261

On these, I do NOT need them NM, just anything from VG to NM. As long as it does not have pin holes, writing, tearing, paper loss, chunks, or BAD centering.
