What's your definition?
What these cards, are they rookies? 1949 Leaf Rizzuto - Not even close 1949 Leaf Musial - Not even close 1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson - No 1952 Topps Mantle - No 1982 Topps traded Ripken - No 1985 Fleer Puckett - Yes 1987 Topps Bonds - Yes
IMO, a "rookie card" is printed the year of or after the players rookie season.
The '49 Leaf Rizzuto and Musial came out 8 years after their debut. They have no rookie cards as far as I know.
The '49 Leaf Robinson came out 2 years after Robinson's debut. 1947 Bond Bread is his RC.
1951 Bowman is Mantle's RC, not 1952 Topps.
1982 Topps is Ripken's RC, not 1982 Topps Traded.
I consider the 1985 Fleer Puckett and 1987 Topps Bonds to be their rookie cards although they each had another card a year earlier (1984 Fleer Update and 1986 Topps Traded) because, IMO, a "rookie card" should be a regular issue card (a random pull from a pack).
