I've seen a few SBC slabs, they look like SGC. Do they get re-cased or get re-graded?

regraded, reholdered with a new SGC label is not a given!

I believe no matter what holder, the card will get reevaluated before being placed in a new SGC holder.

My experience on regrade success rate for a same
grade cross is not good. They will not just reholder.
Good luck!

If you want a good example, my 1954 Aaron RC was in an SBC 92 slab. I made sure it measured, got the card for a $1500 offer, then submitted it to SGC with an 86 NM+ minimum grade stipulation on crossover. As you can see, that's what I got. I was happy!

I agree the Aaron is AWESOME.Now for the question on crossovers.I think you are better off cracking out of slab and subbing it raw.In my experience each company thinks they have to prove they are stricter graders then the other and usually either stays the same or goes down, never up.

For SGC crossovers I just leave them in the slab, I have had many that bumped. PSA is the exact opposite.

I think a lot depends on the card inside the plastic. After a few submissions, you can pretty much determine which will cross and which will not. Ask bbo; I bet he has a high rate of return. For example, I recently sent in 10 1984 Fleer Update cards, all PSA 9. I requested a minimum grade of 96...7 got the grade, 2 upgraded to 98 and only 1 did not meet my minimum. That's a pretty good return. On older cards, I'm easier to fool...I only get about 50% to cross from PSA to SGC, even when I think they are easy crosses. A lot of PSA vintage I buy online, I just put back up for resale, because I know they will not cross. And on rare occasions, I have broken cards out and sent them in raw and have gotten the grade I desired, but sometimes I am sorely disappointed. That's why I like to keep them in the holders...at least they will resale and you can recoup some of your money (on several occasions, I have even made a good return). You just never know. But the bottom line is, have a strong feeling that the card will cross before you send it in...if you have any doubts at all, save your grading fees and S&H.
