Keepers indeed on the 57's! With the centering and great eye appeal like that, The superficial cosmetic grading numbers are really a mute point.

I actually already had this card, But I couldn't pass this one up for the price and a major upgrade from the one I had.

Now only 9 cards short on series one set.

Picked up the LAST Key rookie from Levi(707) for my 57 set. Ive made great progress in the past month or so picking up some of the key rookies.

As usual the inferior PSA slab popped right open.

Other than the Matt Snell I recently posted, it's been slow going on my 71 Topps Football Registry set. Its just so hard getting high quality cards in SGC holders.

Ive had a pretty good success rate in the past on the crossovers ive done on the set. I have 5-6 PSA cards that I would like to cross for my set.

This card has elududed me for some time now and I have passed on a few in the past because I knew they would cross to SGC, but this one I believe has a very good chance, Might even have a shot at a 92 if I decide to take the chance of sending it in Raw. Kind of a pricey card to crack out and take a chance on. Still need the Csonka and kiick

Hey Guys!

I apologize for leaving you hanging on the Basketball set I choose to do in light of the freaking killer 86 fleer cards Rob keeps posting!

Anyway I don't usually ever bid on any of the big ebay consigner Auctions, But Probstein had over 100 high grade cards from the set and I decided to place my max bid on 96 of the cards and that was it! If they Shilled me so be it.

Ends up I won 76 of the cards Including Both Dr.J's and the Pete Maravich AS, ALL for and average of about $5.00 per card! That's less than the grading fee it took to have them slabbed!

Needless to say I was extremely happy that high grade 8, 8.5 and 9's were so affordable from the set.

Man I gotta take a crap! I'll be right back.........................................

I would respectfully advise you NOT to crack out the Morris. IMO it has no chance at a 92. The color appears faded on the left side, the chipping on both borders and too many corner touches. SGC graders might just hammer that card into an 86 or 88 holder if you're expecting a 92. PSA gifted that card for sure.

Mike

Indeed SGC is very tough on the 71's. I have subbed and crossed quite a few. It has been my experience that they focus more on corners than any other aspect of the cards.

Also, scanning the 71's is also difficult and often over exagerates the cards and corners.

The corners are solid and its the nicest centering Ive seen on this card. Im pretty tough on the cards myslf and believe the card was propely graded by PSA.

88 is my target grade and I believe I have a strong chance at it crossing. Ive had 5-6 other psa cards that need to be crossed as well.

OK guys! The first wave of Basketball cards has arrived and I have strung ya all along long enough. The Set I choose:

Was the 1976 Topps Tall Boys. I was 12 years old at the time and I distinctly recall my cousin and I having these cards.

The set is amazingly afforable and I imagine the card size and lack of Laker greats Chamberlain and West, as well as any Big name Rookies makes it not quite as popular, but even so it just brings back so many memories.

Now if I always thought the "standard sized" graded slabs were cumbersome and hard to store and enjoy looking through a set, These things take it to a completely different level!

I mean just to carry half dozen of these monster size slabs is like Moses coming down from the mountain with those stone tablets! LOL!

No doubt these will have to be removed in order for me to really be able to enjoy the set.

I have not really dealt with the Beckett Slabs too much and they appear to be the most secure and toughest to remove slabs, While the SGC slabs are the nicest looking and the PSA slabs..... Well their PSA.

Ive got alot of slab crackin to do and then I will be able to more properly be able to highlight and display the cards.

John
