LOVE those Kahn's.

I love all the old cards that were perforated or you could cut out.
But I kick my own ass every time I look at my 70's Hostess cards :-(

That's either very hard to do, or it hurts a whole lot. At my age, I'm not about to try something such as that.

I know the condition of these is not really good. However, i am not a "grade stickler", so I am PUMPED. Got these two 1971's today, and so now I am OFFICIALLY an owner of a 1971 Topps Football COMPLETE SET!!!! These were the last two I needed.
The guy I bought the all time greatest Florida State Seminole Wide Receiver, from, also had the 72 Jackson cheaper then I have ever found, so I jumped on it too.

Nice Job Wes!

Two Great Football sets indeed! Both are two of my all-time childhood favorites!

While I am primarily a high grade raw collector, I have worked hard over the years on only a couple of sets in graded slabs. The 71 and 72 are those sets. The 71 set currently at #1 on the SGC Registry has been slow going, as it is hard to find SGC cards for the set. I have a handful in PSA slabs that need to be crossed.

The 72 Set actually hit the #1 spot briefly on the PSA Registry before being knocked out to #2.
Myseriously my set disappeared from the PSA registry after I was banned from the PSA message board for questioning some of the practices that were going on at PSA and "Spreading Conspiracy Theories"

I also still maintain both sets in Raw shape as well.

They are two of the greatest football sets ever produced as far as Im concerned and you have every right to be so proud of owning them!

Show them often and show them proudly!

CONGRATULATIONS on a Job well done!

John

John, on the 1972, I have the series 1-2 complete, just working on the # 3 high series.
So just last night, I saw on EBAY, a lot of 31 cards with 3 High #'s, for $30. One of them was the Walt Garrison which is, as you know, one of the rarer of the rarer ones. I already have the other 2 high#s.
Anyways, since I only trade cards I have 3 of, according to the list of them, I will have 17 cards I can trade.
If you want to, I will scan them and see if you can use them as an upgrade for your raw set?

Wes

Aw Yes! The high Number Walt "Little Puddin" Garrison is a Great pick up! Another of my All-Time favorite Cowboys. The frigging guy was just tough as nails.

I think it was Charlie Waters who coined the phrase(Help me here Jim)

"If you needed 4 yards Walt would get ya 4 yards....... If you needed 12 yards........ Walt would get ya 4 yards"

A Mint 9 72 Walt Garrison is one of the few that have eluded me, but Im content with the one I have as it came from my original raw set and is a card Ive owned for almost 30 years now.

Another of my favorite Walt Garrison issues comes from the 1972 Sunoco Stamp Set.

In order to upgrade my raw set I would need fairly well centered EXMT-NM or better cards.
LMK what ya got!

John

Walt was also a rodeo steer wrestler
After jumping off horses wrestling steers to the ground playing Fb was probably a vacation

That 72 Topps is a great looking card

WOW John, that is a DREAMY Garrison.
I will see what I get, and maybe scan them all to you and see if you can use them to upgrade.

John,

I don't know why, but I keep thinking it was Don Meredith that said that about Walt. He was one of my all-time favorite Cowboys, cut from the Jim Taylor mold. He wasn't the fullback Taylor was but he was ever bit as tough.

Didn't he bust up his knee in a rodeo incident that shortened his football career?
