Why I prefer vintage over modern (mid1970s-Present) is that virtually every vintage card is a true 1/1 i.e. no identical copies.

Due to centering, print quality, enough age to have caused wear on corners/edges, etc. there are no two '57s for example that are exactly alike, unlike mid70s-present. That's what makes vintage card collecting interesting to me...
