congratulations on the scans!!!

The card quality of the PSA 8 grade has declined substaintially over the past few years. Likely due to the .05 PSA money grab. Current psa 8's were formerly PSA 7 quality cards.

Sometimes it seems as though you will never be able to upgrade your Registry set, then all of a sudden something nice just falls in your lap. Thanks to DN for helping my 1954 set get a much need boost. The Willis & Hetki are obviously from the Lionel Carter Collection. Sarni, Hemsley and Deal hail from the Randy Stuckemeyer Collection.

One of the few to "crack the Stuckemeyer code." How'd you do it dealing with Karson?

I've only actually dealt with Karson once...at the time I had only one card less than 84 in my 1954 set, an SGC 80 Vern Stephens. The Stuckemeyer Collection had a 92 Stephens, so I contacted Karson and told him of my plight and difficulty finding a Stephens. I told him I would be honored to have one of Randy's cards in my collection. He came right back with a very reasonable offer and thus I snared my first Stuckemeyer card. It was a very straight-up, pleasant transaction. All of my others have come from a Bussineau auction which scattered the 1954s nationwide...I have been able to track down a few and add them to my set. My old friend Goldenhawk has a treasure trove of the Stuckemeyer 54s, but I know I will never get my paws on those.

If you are looking at getting a Gretzky rookie the one to get is the OPC and I would only seek out ones with the blue print lines on the back as its the first printing. The lines disappear from the later printing of the card.

Picked this up on ebay. Been looking for this condition quite awhile. Extremely tough in ex or above because of centering.

Cammb's last post with the 52 Red back was Nov 6

No new picks ups guys?

Heres what Ive been up to:

While I focus on football, I had every baseball and basketball set as well when we were kids in the seventies.

While not building any of the sets Ive been picking up a few of my favorite cards from those sets.

Old Cubs and Soxs cards are always some of my favorites.

I always love many of the action shots in the 73 set including these two. The Kirkpatrick came from board member DrD Thanks Dallas!

Ron Leflore was a great story and Player

And of coarse I'll have to include a few Football pick ups like these three that I absolutely got steals on!

We need to keep this thread at the top! What have you got?

Happy Holidays!
John
