Who put out the Garbaty cigarettes. That's a brand I've never heard of. Are they possibly an English brand? How many cards in the set???

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Garbatys. I purchased several cards on the Net 54 Boards a few months back. Great looking Cards - Lots of History - Totally under appreciated... Enjoy

Toledo is correct and that is and excellent blog on the Garbatys.

The was also a similar article an issue of SMR awhile back. The history and its ties to Nazis Germany is really very interesting.

As Bammer stated earlier, It is really quite amazing the print quality on many of these types of older cards.

Im still missing 8 cards from Series one.
and 10 cards from Series two.
mostly the Marlende Deitrichs and Greta Garbos.

As well as the absolute beauty, the cards seem to have a mysterious look to them. In todays high tech world, its interesting to wonder the lifestyle and how dramatic it has changed.

The photos seem ancient, but in reality it was only 80 years ago.

1888 Duke Great Americans. Not bad for cards 125 years old.

Wow rgold, you have some beautiful cards. Those are the first W. Duke Sons & Co. cards I have seen. I see they're 6's and 7's and the colors are nice and vibrant. Very nice!!! How hard are they to find??? I was going to limit myself to the western sets, but I may have to pick up a few of those. Are they expensive graded? Did you buy raw and grade, or did you buy them graded? Would you start a new thread and tell us about them? I believe with the cards and comments I've seen here, we could get a nice non sports card forum going. Thanks for sharing.
