Well, I've taken the plunge and started a 1961 Fleer set. While Topps is my most favorite cards, I do like these Fleer. The set contains 154 cards and I recently purchased a lot of 10 (all 8s) to start off with. The colors on the front are vibrant, I think that's why I like them. While I'm a Yankee fan, I do like reading about the old school guys, and this set is full of them. Check out my set and my pictures and let me know what you think. I may even do a 1960 Fleer set. I think I'll go check ebay to see if there's a lot of them I could purchase to get started.

Yes, the colored backgrounds are nice. Another thing I like is having the stadium in the background. I have a 1957 Topps card of Al Cicotte and behind him is maybe right center field. I'm trying to figure out if it's old Yankee Stadium or somewhere else. I'll see if I can get the front scan up on here.
