I believe that the Presidents of PSA, SGC, and GAI work hard to provide a good product for fellow hobbyists.
Everyone has their preference...it seems SGC customers are very satisfied with their grading company, PSA folks continue to advocate and support PSA, and as a GAI customer, I am very satisfied with the service I receive as well.
Every once in a while someone will throw a scan of a graded card for sale on E-bay and criticize the overgrading of the card (whether it be PSA, SGC or GAI)---rarely does anyone throw up a scan of an undergraded card--whether PSA, SGC, or GAI. When a grader grades thousands of cards, they are going to make mistakes from time to time--It doesn't matter if it's the most senior grader in business. In addition, new graders come abroad and require training, and while quality controls are implemented, things have a tendency to slip through the cracks from time to time.
I may be sounding naive here, but i am the type of person where you have to prove to me someone is guilty of intentionally doing something before I form a negative opinion...I always give the benefit of the doubt...fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me.

To your point I recently submitted two PSA 8 cards to SGC which I thought were stunning and was rewarded with SGC 96 grades.
The reason why we point out the negative is twofold
1. Humans in general dwell on the negative
2. It's actually easier to definitely look at a scan and see whacked out centering and know that a card will grade lower. Many times it's still hard to say that it will grade higher since the scans dont allow a good enough look at corners, edges, etc... in many cases.

Dear All
Based upon what can be seen in the scan, this has the potential to be an undergrade. It looks on the surface to be what PSA fans call a high-end 8. Surely the type of 8 that I look for when I try and cross something. I've had 8's that look like this go to 92's or even 96's.
Undergraded Psa 8?

Of course while we have the case of the Adcock on the potential undergrade can anyone tell me why both of the cards below aren't called OC??

Good question! Not so much because I think both cards should be OC, but because it highlights a very important consideration -- should centering be measured based solely on the border width or on the position of an image that bleeds into the border?
Examples: 1963 Fleer checklist, 1954 Topps Ernie Banks, 1954 Topps Tommy Lasorda, 1948 Leaf Sid Gordon SP, 1955 Topps Dick Groat, 1958 Topps White Sox team.
Can anyone think of any others?

In a convention hall filled with the best cards, collectors, dealers,
grading companies, and old ball players and new playmates I
felt like I was in heaven!  Nothing but positive feelings.
Sometimes the day-to-day grind of long commutes, meetings,
deadlines, housework, bills, and other headaches can make
one not to think positive all the time. Overall, I try to stay
positive.
I think everyone fears of getting hosed whether it is everyday
life or in the card hobby. It is not fun when it happens. People
tend to get upset and dwell on what went wrong. I guess it's
human nature. For example, I'm sure you heard many times
about my 54 Mueller. But I never (or rarely) mentioned the
Psa 8 Reese that crossed to an Sgc 92. I was estatic!
I must try to stay positive. Hopefully, I can stay thay way as
Isabel does a number on the East Coast, including the Philadelphia
Metropolitan Area! Actually, I'll think positive!
