This forum and all of the card related forums seem to be dying a slow death. Posting activity seems to be at a crawl. And I am to blame as much as the next guy.

Rejoice in the fact that you obviously have a life outside of the board. Don't think of it as dying. There are still many interesting topics discussed. Eat drink and sleep hobby isn't good for you

NJ,

Nice Koufax logo. I'll be waiting for your email tonight.

KLL,

I spend more time than I should on the boards. Read alot but
don't post since it is tough at work.

KLL,

I both agree and disagree. The popularity of the SGC forum has steadily increased since day 1. The vintage (Network54) forum has also seen steady growth. The CU forum, however, has steadily declined in activity and quality since major contributors were banned or discouraged from posting.

I can't speak with regards to this forum but in regards to the Collectors Universe forums, I'm not sure that the quantity of the posts are down but no doubt if you are interested in vintage cards, the quality has dropped. The "boards" are mostly populated by younger collectors who collect in 1970s and newer. There is expertise about individual sets into the 1960s but aside from Marc Schonoen(sp?) who seldom posts anymore because he is in school, I haven't seen anyone with broad expertise in vintage sets.

Good place to go, however, if you want to be patted on the back for getting a few Kellogg psa 9s (which accounts for most of the Kellogg grades).

I can not offer an opinion regarding network 54. I am not familiar with it. CU chat boards have also gain in popularity since day 1. In terms of content, CU boards may not be everyones cup of tea. But the activity on that board can not be denied.

I don't want to get into the PSA/SGC thing again, but for the most part, participation on CU boards on any given day seems to be more than we may see here in a given month! There are times when nothing is generated on this board for agiven 48 hour period.

MW- Can you privide a link for the Network 54 board?? That would be appreciated.

I do agree that the PSA board tends to be more "modern" nowadays. I've always enjoyed reading (now posting) to the SGC board. This board does tend to focus more on the vintage than the modern. However, I would have to disagree with those who think the quality of the posts on these boards are declining simply because they're going "modern".

Although I collect vintage (and I mean 50s and pre-war hockey) as well as 60s and 70s, and some 80s hockey, modern is the future of card collecting. Walk into any card show and I think you would agree you see more kids and guys and gals in their 20s and 30s, than seeing 50+ and over. There are still many modern and vintage experts on the PSA board, and the fact that a few folks do not post any more, hasn't hurt the boards at all IMHO.
