Effective this evening, a PSA grader who had been there for 3 1/2 years, gave his two-week notice. The reason given was that after the firing of the senior grader last week, he had had enough and did not like where things were headed. This now leaves PSA with 10 in the grading room.

Botn,

One thing for sure. We can say that this will not be hitting the Psa boards
anytime soon. Lol! I'm 100% sure of that.

Was this grader a vintage grader with experience?

Greg,

Interesting--if you know his name please e-mail it to me. I am developing a good network of ex-psa employees.

With a due respect....people leave organizations all the time...why is such a big deal when a grader decides to make change in his career.

Are these guys expected to stay with PSA for 30 years???

john,
i guess that would depend on the pension plan?
to us this is a hobby to them it's a job. all jobs get old and i would have to put sitting in a grading room 8 hours a day is got to be right up there with working the fry bin at mcdonalds. gets old quick.
i don't blame them one bit for doing it for 3 or 4 years then moving on.

Basilone,

It probably is not that big of a deal since they have ten other graders with
maybe more on the way. I was just wondering if this guy was one of Psa's
better graders of vintage material.

People leave companies all the time. Heck, in my industry there is
significant turnover. And it seems to go in spurts. My seventeen years
with my company is the exception not the rule. Sometimes I feel
I could be gone tomorrow too. Who knows?

I think that for the most part grading and authentication of cards is
a field with high turnover. I'm sure there are exceptions.

The crux of botn's post wasn't that a grader left, but rather why the grader left the company.

Vayank is correct, Basilone. My point was to let people know why. Nothing shocking about anyone leaving a job. I do however think that this offers more insight into the CU machine. Under the circumstances I felt that this was relevant.

my question would be does psa allow this "grader" to grade cards for the next two weeks? or do they pay him 2 weeks salary and show him the door?
