Why is it OK to name names of those that are suspected of doctoring comics on these boards, but not OK to name suspected card doctors?

Simple question.

Just a guess from a comic guy...

The "comic doctor" in question was actually convicted in a court of law of selling phoney stuff in the past.

That does add some weight to the charge that he still is doing it.

And I think it was phoney sports memorabilia that he was convicted of selling, and he has now switched to comics. So your hobby is being protected too by this guy's exposer.

Aces, I suspect that that is at least part of it.

It is probably of no suprise to you that there are some card Dr's with an almost indentical MO -- private auctions, private feedback...and are offering the same sort of product (no mention of "thrill bidders" in their auctions, which is a bit disappointing .)

Anyway, anytime their names appear here, they are wiped clean in a matter of hours.

Well if they deleted every thread that has mentioned him upstairs in the comics area at least 25% of the them would be history.

edit:

btw-
I wouldn't be surprised if he was also one of the private auction card people doing double duty.

I got this message from MW1 today:

Quote:

Someone just started a thread on the SGC forum asking why it is OK for the comic people to name comic doctors but not for the card people to name card doctors. Some comic collector (Aces) responded and said that it's because the comic guy (Dupcak) was actually convicted. This is true, but he was NOT convicted for restoring/altering comics. I think someone should clarify this.

Aces, it wouldn't suprise me either. I suppose the tools of the trade are pretty much the same whether the patient is a book or a card. And, who can really keep track of someone that is trying to get away with something on eBAY. Private Auction, private feedback...run away.
