I a couple years ago got a Randy Johnson rookie card for my birthday. I have a lot of baseball cards that I got from my brother and such but have no clue what they are worth or how you grade them and such. My card I believe was submitted to "PSA" and the "NM-MT" is 8. I was wondering if any of you could give me a rough estimate of how rare the card would be and how much it is. And if PSA is a good grading service.

There are quite a few Randy Johnson cards that were issued during 1989(Donruss, Upper Deck, Topps, Fleer etc.) They are pretty easy to find and most range from $3 - $10 in PSA 8. Which one do you have?

I'm not quite sure, however, you may want to ask BOTN or MW1.

I have a upper deck one. I am going to go try to get a photo. I will see if I can get one.

No problem. They are not great but got the job done. What chances are that the card will go up in value once the Big Unit retires?

I think you might see a very small spike in prices when he is about to retire
or sets another milestone of some kind. You may also see a short spike
during the time he gets into the HOF (if he does). But not much of an increase.
A Psa 8 is a rather common card for the 89 Upper Deck. Plus 89 upper
deck was printed in a decent quantity. I'd be surprised if that card ever
brought over $20 if the current price is $8. And that is a stretch.

Anyhow, the card is still nice and I'm sure holds some sentimental
value for you as a birthday present. Unless, you don't like the person
that gave it to you. Enjoy!

Good luck if you sell it.
