Bruceswar,

I'm sorry, but I just don't like some of the signatures on the ball including those of Joe DiMaggio, "Moose" Skowron and Vic Raschi. They're close, but certain letters just don't look right to me. There are other problems as well. For one, Casey Stengel died in 1975...almost a decade before Bobby Brown baseballs were made. And whenever I see a Roger Maris signature on a Bobby Brown baseball, I always assume it's a fake. Why? Because to the best of my knowledge, Roger Maris was in the hospital near the end of his life and the window of opportunity to get his signature on a Bobby Brown baseball was extremely limited (I only know of one dealer who had Roger sign a quantity of balls when he was sick and he didn't have him sign Bobby Brown baseballs). Also, I'm not sure why Tony Oliva would sign a Yankees Old Timers ball. The ball just doesn't look good to me, but please keep in mind that this is only my opinion. There may be others who judge your ball to be 100% authentic. In my estimation, a top-condition baseball with authentic signatures would probably bring about $500 or so.

Well I am going to have the ball COA'ed again .. to make sure it is authentic... I am sure that I can find a reputable company here in dallas that will do it... And if all those guys were real it would only bring $500? .. Yet on the Yankees website they want $699.00 for Dimaggio alone...?? Definately needs to be COA'ed again... I will let you know what happens when I get it COA'ed Again...

Bruceswar,

$699 would definitely be a high-end retail price for Joe DiMaggio autographed baseballs (authentic ones can be found for less). Keep in mind that the price for autograph baseballs is not an additive function of its constituent signatures; rather, it is a function of supply and demand. For vintage baseballs and those containing vintage signatures, the demand for single-signed balls with notable Hall of Famers (both living and deceased) is generally greater than that for baseballs with a cornucopia of autographs. Exceptions to this rule would be for legendary or well-known teams such as the 1961 Yankees or 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers.

As paradoxical as it may seem, a baseball with ONLY Roger Maris' autograph on the sweet spot would be considerably more valuable than a baseball that included the autographs of Roger Maris and several of his 1960s N.Y. Yankee teammates.
