Although vintage hockey is my favorite to pursue, I also enjoy collecting vintage boxing from time to time. Boxing, along with baseball, used to be a national pastime in this country, where the likes of Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, etc were considered boyhood hereos of their time. The Mecca cards of 1910 and 1911 are my favorites, along with 1951 topps and 1956 adventure cards.

I just completed a set of 1938 churchman's and I am sending that set in for grading.

Just wondering are there any fellow boxing collectors out there or anyone else who has boxing cards willing to trade for baseball, basketball.

John,

Funny that you should bring this up. I have been looking at some of the caramel issues E75, E76, E77, E78 and E79's. They seem to be bringing fairly strong prices. For instance I was the under bidder on this lot.

Also forgot to bid on this one. That one seemed to go cheap even though it was VG.

I think that this is a market this will eventually gain more recognition. I recently purchased a "price guide" for $30 that is extremely comprehensive. It is a very nice compilation of information by a fellow collector. Let me know if you want more info on that. I found the guide invaluable.

Best,
Greg

Greg...WOW...I missed that Jack Johnson Turkey Red...I don't know how, but I missed it. I would have been willing to spend 200.00 on that card.

Yes, I would be interested in how I can get my hands on a price guide. I have a hard time of comparing prices on vintage boxing.

Boxing cards are not only a good investment IMO, but bargain prices exits for these vintage cards as well.

Thanks for letting me know.
John
