When will it stop? Maybe CU should see if Greg Manning will sell back the retail segments that CU just sold them. It seems that they may have gotten rid of the wrong segments of their business.

I deleted the post myself after reviewing the web site in the link BOTN provided. It clarified the situation, and I decided my post was no longer necessary.

I will now say that nothing surprises me with the autograph market; authenticating, forgeries, etc... I don't understand the methods used, nor have much interest in it. I'd be hard pressed to think that someone could consistently determine if my signature was real or fake, because it varies to such a degree. And then to sign one on a curved surface (baseball) must really take some practice. It seems like you'd be prone to vary your signature. It all seems too subjective to me. Plus, I really get annoyed with autograph prices that these current and recently retired players are charging. Barry Sanders & Joe Montana can have their $100+ signatures and their I'm charging $XX to personalize or specially notate something. Whatever.

Random thought: I do think Harmon Killebrew has probably the nicest signature I've seen.

Enough of this topic. I'd rather talk about Happy Days trading cards or ugly metallic/chrome modern cards instead.

I never understood the autograph market. For me the whole point of getting an autograph is the experience of meeting the person doing it. Needless to say, since many prewar players are dead now, obviously you can't get them to sign in person, but I just don't see why people are obsessed with paying outrageous for someones signed name.

I agree...I'd rather shake someone's hand and just have a conversation with them versus an autograph...it's great for kids though. I think it's silly for an adult to want an auto of another adult IMO.

A bit off topic, but, I have been putting together a HOF signature card collections slowly over the past couple of years. Agreed, its not like meeting the gentlemen and shaking their hands, but I think they are pretty cool, anyway. Much, much, much nicer than a game used toothpick card.

It is amazing what you can pick up for $5...last night, I got a Gaylord Perry and Bobby Doerr. I think that this is pretty good value.

random thought -- agreed on Killebrew...his is very nice...Seaver has a great one, too.
